Just a quick message:

Despite the fact that we are not at school due to Co Vid 19, we have not let it stop us continue to work very hard. We have been very very busy with school work, projects, exercising, baking, improving our soccer skills, helping our parents at home, reading, drawing, painting, and much much more. Here are some pictures of the work we have been doing.
We hope everyone is keeping safe, well and healthy. We know this is a difficult time for everyone, but by staying apart, social distancing, washing our hands and having good cough and sneeze etiquette we are helping so many people. So WELL DONE everyone keep it up, we are ALL doing a fantastic job!

Monday 23 March 2020

We hope everyone is keeping safe and well over the last couple of days and weeks. We must remember to keep our social distance and keep washing our hands. These are difficult times but if we listen to the experts and do what they tell us to do it will help in the long run.
Before our school closed we were very busy in 5th class A. Here is a quick look at how busy we were.

Firstly we participated in the schools St. Patrick's Day concert. 5th class was well represented in the band and throughout all the performances, well done everyone, ye were FANTASTIC!
We are a very talented class and we are very proud of this, we took a break from our class work and we had a concert of our own.  We really enjoyed our class concert.

We also celebrated 'World Book Day' in our class. We had many famous authors and characters from world famous books in our classroom that day, it was such great fun meeting all these wonderful characters.

We started a very exciting novel called 'Holes' by Louis Sachar with Múinteoir Ann and Múinteoir Denise. We love reading  this novel, we are getting to meet some very interesting characters, understanding the plot, predicting what may happen, comparing our predictions to what exactly happened. We cannot wait to read to the end of this novel!

We were also set a very important and top secret task. Our task is to create a project on ........ we are not going to tell you just yet, you will have to stay tuned to our blog to find out.
What we can tell you is we are loving researching this project so far as it is something we are really interesting in and it's very close to all of us.

We would like to wish everyone good health at this time and hope you are all keeping safe and well. We need to remember to keep our social distance, keep washing our hands and to limit our social interactions. What we are doing so far is working, so keep it up and WELL DONE! We are doing great!

Friday 14 February 2020

We would like to present our project on 'Russia'. We were delighted to get this amazingly interesting country and really enjoyed researching this country. We are so proud of our work and all the work done by our fellow students in our school. All of the projects are amazing and so well researched. Well done everyone.

Friday 31 January 2020

With January coming to a close, here is a quick look at how busy we have been over the past few weeks in 5th Class (A).

Christopher Columbus was the explorer we choose for our project work this month. We really enjoyed investigating and learning about him and all he achieved in his short life. Well done to all the children on the fantastic job they did on their projects, they are EXCELLENT. We also had great fun presenting them to the class, take a look!

We were so delighted to be invited to be in the audience for the Merlin College production of the 'Wizard of Oz'. WOW what a show, we loved every minute of the musical and we would like to thank Merlin College for asking us to attend.

As part of our Active School campaign, we were focusing on getting fit this January. The first two weeks of January we learned some really cool dance moves and dances. The second two weeks, Joe Wicks 'The Body Coach' was in our classroom (via video link), we really loved his eight minute workouts and it was fun to be working out alongside our friends.

In Science we were learning about the Amazing Human Body and  'Digestive System'. On Wednesday last we carried out an experiment to see how the Human Digestive System works. We need a plastic bag, some food, a tight, a paper cup and a bowl for this experiment. We saw how food is digested using these simple everyday items. Some of us loved this experiment, it was gooey, slimy and great fun!

Finally we had a visitor from the Greens Schools, Tiernan played a game of ' Who wants to be a Millionaire' based on the Green Schools theme. We would like to thank him for the visit and all the great prizes he had for us!
